T.A.G. U.R. I.T.

So what exactly is T.A.G. ?  Well let's start at the very beginning so we catch everyone up.  The acronym stands for:

TACTICAL ASSAULT GROUP UNIFIED RESPONSE INFILTRATION TEAMS

Ok cool name, so what exactly does it mean though?  Well basically it is a "Super Team".  As TAG grows, it will start to have many numbers of teams, at least it has the potential to do so.  As of August 2007, there are 2 teams, the 2 founding teams (it is actually 3 because the Sun Spiders have 2 separate detachments).  Basically the way it works is simple.  A Team joins TAG, that team is now a part of the network.  Teams inside TAG are like teams.  All of them are tactical teams, they all have a command/rank structure, a web presence.  The teams follow set doctrine to run missions (they follow real world tactics).  The teams have uniformity in gear as well as uniforms/markers.  They employ radios as well as other new gen gear.

Now, as an example here; Team A is a member of TAG.  They are going to D-Day.  A quick glance through TAG shows that there are 3 other teams also going to D-Day.  The teams link up via TAG and coordinate the unit they are all going to be playing for.  They create a much larger force through TAG.

That's one example of using it.  The possibilities are pretty limitless.  Of course there will be times when all members of TAG may not be on the same side during an event, but I think that is avoidable as all that has to happen is TAG members coordinate prior to signing up for one side or the other.  As TAG grows, it can even be structured to where it is a "Super Team".  Basically command structure filters down from the teams into a single unit.  The two overall commanders are Odin and Apollo.  From there command is based on seniority within TAG and only on a team level.  So this means that if TAG is being run as a team, the captains of the member teams are Squad leaders and rank structure within those teams is separate from TAG.  Basically TAG would run as a single team, with each of the member teams running as Squads or Platoons inside TAG.  This would mean that the captain of team A has no authority to command team B, other than if team A captain is senior to B.  Those command issues though only go so far as to assigning small tasks and do not involve changing entire battle plans and objectives.

Mostly TAG will be used to bring tactical teams to the same game on the same side and make the other side see how inadequate they are when compared to TAG.  It can also be used for recruiting.  If players without teams are looking for serious tactical scenario teams in their area, TAG will provide them with those teams and who to contact.  Teams can also use TAG to solicit that they are looking for people in the forums.

TAG membership will be restricted.  This means that being a member of TAG will mean something because not all teams will qualify to be TAG members.  The actual requirements will be published, but roughly what is required is that the applying body is 1) a team, 2) a tactical scenario team (and tactical means teams sporting bright yellow jerseys, with red and silver markers and about every other piece of gear you couldn't be tactical in would not be allowed to join).  3) The teams have to be similiar to the teams that are members of TAG, 4) Team must have a web presence.  A very comprehensive list will be published.  The deciding votes will come from Apollo and Odin.

So as this takes off, many, many, many more things will be added, created etc... Stay tuned.
